Since founding HITRUST in 2007, Dan has set the company’s strategy as CEO with a clear vision that established HITRUST as the vanguard in managing information risk and meeting regulatory compliance to secure critical data. Initially focusing on establishing HITRUST programs as the standard for healthcare organizations seeking security and privacy and certification, he is now focused on bringing HITRUST’s landmark services to a global audience and paving the path to ensure the company’s services are industry agnostic. Dan has been recognized as a top information security influencer by both SC Magazine and Health Information Security Magazine.

Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer
Dr. Kevin Charest serves as the executive vice president and chief technology officer for HITRUST. He is responsible for all aspects of Agile development, IT operations, information security, and engineering for HITRUST. Kevin comes to HITRUST from Health Care Service Corporation where he served as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and Head of IT Infrastructure. Prior to that he served as the VP, IT Security and Cyber Defense Operations for UnitedHealth Group. Kevin also led the Information Security Office for the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as the CISO and was directly responsible for the HHS cybersecurity technology portfolio. Dr. Charest holds a PhD in Cybersecurity from Capella University. He also holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of West Georgia and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Central Arkansas. He is also a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps and the U.S. Army.
Executive Vice President, Chief Legal & Risk Officer
Kim leads the corporate legal department and serves as a strategic internal partner by providing advice and oversight for all business units to ensure actions and deliverables are aligned to the legal department’s objectives. She provides guidance on all matters related to legal strategies, including human resources, products/marketing, antitrust, litigation, partnerships, licensing, and global compliance/regulations, as well as key business transactions. Kim has a Juris Doctor from the Washington College of Law at The American University in Washington, D.C., and Bar admissions in Massachusetts, the District of Columbia, and Texas.
Chief Innovation Officer
Jeremy Huval is responsible for developing and implementing HITRUST’s innovation strategy; and ensuring that HITRUST innovation provides value to customers, assessors, and relying parties; and overseeing the rollout of new products and capabilities in support of the HITRUST Standards Development Organization and the HITRUST Assurance Program.
Executive Vice President, Standards Development & Assurance Operations
Bimal leads the development of the HITRUST CSF and Assurance program. His teams are responsible for conducting research on information protection practices, enhancing the HITRUST CSF by incorporating new or updated authoritative sources, ensuring the Rely-Ability of HITRUST Certifications, and educating the HITRUST community about the CSF through training. Bimal has spent his career working with organizations to provide assurances over their information protection programs.
Executive Vice President, Market Engagement
With extensive experience in product and solution development, Blake is committed to helping organizations obtain, maintain, and exchange reliable cybersecurity assurances to protect their information supply chains. Blake has a deep understanding of information security technologies and holds patents for vulnerability protection, intrusion prevention/detection system filtering, methodologies for detecting data modification, and other core aspects of cybersecurity.
