Since founding HITRUST in 2007, Dan has set the company’s strategy as CEO with a clear vision that established HITRUST as the vanguard in managing information risk and meeting regulatory compliance to secure critical data. Initially focusing on establishing HITRUST programs as the standard for healthcare organizations seeking security and privacy and certification, he is now focused on bringing HITRUST’s landmark services to a global audience and paving the path to ensure the company’s services are industry agnostic. Dan has been recognized as a top information security influencer by both SC Magazine and Health Information Security Magazine.
Executive Vice President, Customer Engagement & Operations
Steve integrates a consistent message throughout all of HITRUST’s product and service lines. He ensures HITRUST’s external messaging and brand resonate with clients and prospects as the company expands its reach in Europe and Asia as well as across multiple industries. Steve has spent his career building brands and expanding their market reach for business-to-business and business-to-consumer enterprises.
Director of Finance
Kelley focuses on driving all financial relationships with HITRUST customers, partners, vendors, and employees. Under Kelley’s leadership, the finance team produces timely and accurate financial reports for internal stakeholders and manages expenses against budget targets. Additionally, Kelley oversees the human resources, benefits, payroll, travel, and procurement functions at HITRUST. Prior to joining HITRUST, Kelley served in numerous finance, accounting, and internal audit roles.
Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer
Dr. Kevin Charest serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for HITRUST. Kevin is responsible for all aspects of agile development, IT operations, information security, and engineering. He comes to HITRUST from Health Care Service Corporation where he served as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and Head of IT Infrastructure. Prior to that he served as the VP, IT Security and Cyber Defense Operations for UnitedHealth Group. Kevin also led the Information Security Office for the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as the CISO and was directly responsible for the HHS cybersecurity technology portfolio. Dr. Charest holds a PhD in Cybersecurity from Capella University. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of West Georgia and a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from the University of Central Arkansas. He is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and the U.S. Army.
Chief Research Officer
Bryan provides thought leadership on risk management and compliance and develops the methodologies used in various components of the HITRUST Approach. This includes a focus on the design of the HITRUST CSF and the assessment and certification models used in the HITRUST CSF Assurance Programs, for which he provides technical direction and oversight. He’s also responsible for addressing emerging trends impacting risk management and compliance to ensure the HITRUST Approach sets the bar for organizations seeking the most comprehensive privacy and security frameworks available. Bryan previously served as HITRUST’s Vice President of Standards and Analysis.
Chief Privacy Officer & Vice President, Privacy Programs
Nikole leads privacy initiatives for HITRUST, providing industry experience to the organization, and integrating privacy regulations into the various components of the HITRUST Approach, including MyCSF. She works closely with the HITRUST Standards and Assurance teams to develop and optimize the incorporation of privacy principles in the face of emerging privacy regulations globally. Nikole has spent her career providing clients and companies with risk-based, regulatory compliance guidance as an attorney and consultant. She is recognized by the International Association of Privacy Professionals as a Fellow of Information Privacy.
Chief Legal & Risk Officer
Kim leads the corporate legal department and serves as a strategic internal partner by providing advice and oversight for all business units to ensure actions and deliverables are aligned to the legal department’s objectives. She provides guidance on all matters related to legal strategies, including human resources, products/marketing, antitrust, litigation, partnerships, licensing, and global compliance/regulations, as well as key business transactions. Kim has a Juris Doctor from the Washington College of Law at The American University in Washington, D.C., and Bar admissions in Massachusetts, the District of Columbia, and Texas.
Chief Innovation Officer
Jeremy is responsible for developing and implementing HITRUST’s innovation strategy; ensuring HITRUST’s innovation provides value to customers, assessors, and relying parties; and overseeing the rollout of new products and capabilities in support of HITRUST’s Standards Development Organization and the HITRUST CSF Assurance Program.
Executive Vice President, Standards Development & Assurance Operations
Bimal leads the development of the HITRUST CSF and Assurance program. His teams are responsible for conducting research on information protection practices, enhancing the HITRUST CSF by incorporating new or updated authoritative sources, ensuring the rely-ability of HITRUST Certifications, and educating the HITRUST community about the CSF through training. Bimal has spent his career working with organizations to provide assurances over their information protection programs.
Chief Marketing Officer
BJ is responsible for planning, developing, and executing the HITRUST marketing strategy and elevating the brand, ensuring that HITRUST messages are clearly communicated across channels and to targeted audiences. She oversees marketing communications, product marketing, lead generation, public relations, voice of the customer, and market research.
BJ’s expertise was honed through nearly 30 years of Fortune 10 corporate business experience in various marketing, business operations, and business transformation roles. Before joining HITRUST, she worked more than six years leading product marketing and marketing teams at AT&T Cybersecurity. BJ is a recognized leader skilled at directing and motivating teams to drive organizational results. With a passion for continuous learning, she is flexible to change and encourages continuous improvement.
BJ earned her MBA from the University of Illinois Gies College of Business in 2020 with specializations in Digital Marketing, Strategic Innovation, and Finance. She also holds a certificate in Design Thinking from the University of Texas at Austin, a certificate in Data Driven Marketing from Cornell University, and a BS in Business Administration from the University of Illinois.
BJ is also a Certified CSF Practitioner.
